What a Muslim believes, in six points taught directly by the Prophet ﷺ.
Where the five pillars are what a Muslim does, the six articles of iman (faith) are what a Muslim believes. They come from the Hadith of Jibril, where the angel Jibril, in the form of a man, asked the Prophet ﷺ to explain iman before the assembled companions.
The Prophet ﷺ answered: belief in Allah; in His angels; in His revealed books; in His messengers; in the Last Day; and in the divine decree (qadr) — its good and its bitter. These six form one connected picture of reality: who created you, who guides the unseen world, how guidance reached humanity, who delivered it, where life is heading, and how to hold both ease and hardship with trust in Allah.
You don't need to master the philosophy behind each article today — the Aqeedah guide in this app walks through all six in depth, with the evidence behind each one, whenever you're ready to go deeper.
