Aisha asked the Prophet ﷺ exactly what to say.
Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) asked the Prophet ﷺ: 'O Messenger of Allah, if I know which night is the Night of Qadr, what should I say in it?' He told her to say: 'Allahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibbul-'afwa fa'fu 'anni' — 'O Allah, You are Forgiving, and You love forgiveness, so forgive me' (Tirmidhi 3513, graded hasan sahih by al-Tirmidhi).
This du'a is short, easy to memorise, and deliberately about forgiveness rather than worldly requests — a reminder that the greatest gain from this night is Allah's pardon. Repeat it often through the last ten nights, in prayer, in prostration, and between them, rather than saving it for a single guessed night.
