The Overthrowing · Makki · 29 ayahs
١
Itha alshshamsu kuwwirat
When the sun is overthrown
٢
Waitha alnnujoomu inkadarat
And when the stars fall
٣
Waitha aljibalu suyyirat
And when the hills are moved
٤
Waitha alAAisharu AAuttilat
And when the camels big with young are abandoned
٥
Waitha alwuhooshu hushirat
And when the wild beasts are herded together
٦
Waitha albiharu sujjirat
And when the seas rise
٧
Waitha alnnufoosu zuwwijat
And when souls are reunited
٨
Waitha almawoodatu suilat
And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked
٩
Biayyi thanbin qutilat
For what sin she was slain
Waitha alssuhufu nushirat
And when the pages are laid open
Waitha alssamao kushitat
And when the sky is torn away
Waitha aljaheemu suAAAAirat
And when hell is lighted
Waitha aljannatu ozlifat
And when the Garden is brought nigh
AAalimat nafsun ma ahdarat
(Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready
Fala oqsimu bialkhunnasi
Oh, but I call to witness the planets
١٦
Aljawari alkunnasi
The stars which rise and set
Waallayli itha AAasAAasa
And the close of night
Waalssubhi itha tanaffasa
And the breath of morning
Innahu laqawlu rasoolin kareemin
That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger
Thee quwwatin AAinda thee alAAarshi makeenin
Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne
MutaAAin thamma ameenin
(One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy
Wama sahibukum bimajnoonin
And your comrade is not mad
Walaqad raahu bialofuqi almubeeni
Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon
Wama huwa AAala alghaybi bidaneenin
And he is not avid of the Unseen
Wama huwa biqawli shaytanin rajeemin
Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned
Faayna tathhaboona
Whither then go ye
In huwa illa thikrun lilAAalameena
This is naught else than a reminder unto creation
Liman shaa minkum an yastaqeema
Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight
Wama tashaoona illa an yashaa Allahu rabbu alAAalameena
And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation
